Mary Tisdale DeArmond, a native of Welch, West Virginia, was raised in Little Rock, South Carolina, as the youngest of fifteen siblings. Following her high school graduation, Mary made the decision to enlist in the United States Navy, dedicating eight years to serving her country with distinction.
Transitioning from military service, Mary relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, assuming the role of Executive Administrator at Grace AME Zion Church for nine years. In 2017, she assumed the responsibilities of Episcopal Administrator for the Western Episcopal District of the AME Zion Church.
In November 2019, Mary embarked on a new chapter as she married Reverend William DeArmond, the innovative Pastor of Hilliard Church in Stockton, CA. Together, they are raising two sons. Demonstrating her commitment to faith and service, Mary delivered her trial sermon at Kyles Temple AME Zion Church in December 2020.
Continuing her pursuit of academic excellence, Mary earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in December 2023 and is slated to commence a Master's Program in Marriage and Family Therapy in the upcoming fall semester of 2024. She is currently employed as a Behavior Analyst and Administrator for a local Psychologist's Office.
Mary actively contributes to her community and ecclesiastical responsibilities, serving as the District Secretary for both Bay Cities and Central Valley Districts of the California Conference, in addition to fulfilling the role of District CED Director.
Her guiding principle, inspired by Philippians 4:8, is encapsulated in the mantra "Don't let the hard days win," reflecting her resilience and unwavering commitment to her beliefs and endeavors.
